Mark V, take 1!
Yesterday at Paul Harling's Diving Locker Museum (located beneath Maritime Gloucester) we showed up for the Mark V Navy diving suit demonstration. There was a good crowd of about 30 people, and we certainly weren't the only videographers, either. Commercial diver John Harvey took a stroll to the bottom of the harbor in an antique dive suit and bell helmet. We learned that this kind of technology has been in use for 100 years! Very interesting shoot, met some fellow filmmakers and videographers, and got impromptu interviews with the hero of the day John Harvey, as well as Diving Locker founder Paul Harling.
We went down to this exhibition on a whim, but ended up with some great results for footage. Look for a clip about it on Awesome Gloucester!
Don't forget, we'll also be visiting Maritime Gloucester in June for a cruise on the Ardelle and to dive inside the touch tank aquarium.
